Direct Effect Innovation Challenge

Students design and pitch a marketing campaign to ESPN all within 3 hours.

Last spring, we went on the road with the U.S. Postal Service and Throughline to Charlotte, NC for a innovation challenge. Marketing students from nearby colleges went head to head to try and win over their live client, ESPN. While the students had their challenge we had one of our own. Capture interviews, presentations, live student reactions, project updates, awards, celebrations and even the occasional dance outbreak all within eight hours.

We couldn’t have been happier with how the day unfolded. It was especially fun to feel like we were a part of the event itself. We were there for all the great moments, the low moments, the stress, the tears, you name it. This event was a massive success for many reasons but the most impressive part was seeing all the creativity and discipline these students were capable of.
